The Charlotte Hornets and guard Terry Rozier have agreed to a four-year contract extension worth $97 million. Rozier was set to become an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2022. He’ll play this year for Charlotte for $17.9 million before his extension kicks in with the 2022-23 season.

Rozier joined the Hornets via sign-and-trade from the Boston Celtics in 2019. With Charlotte, Rozier has become a full-time starter and averaged a career-high 20.4 points per game in 2020-21. Rozier also shot a career-best 45% from the field, while averaging 4.4 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game.

After signing-and-trading Devonte Graham to the New Orleans Pelicans, it was important for Charlotte to retain Rozier. He’s proven to be a good fit in the backcourt with LaMelo Ball, as Rozier is comfortable playing on and off the ball.
