Blake Griffin and the Detroit Pistons have agreed for Griffin to sit out games as the franchise looks for trade or buyout options, sources told Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

The team is looking to rebuild and play their younger players, including Saddiq Bey.

“After extensive conversation with Blake’s representatives, it has been determined that we will begin working to facilitate a resolution regarding his future with the team that maximizes the interests of both parties,” Pistons general manager Troy Weaver told ESPN.

Griffin currently has $36.6 million remaining on this season’s deal, with $39 million owed in 2021-22.
